Stainless Steel 304 vs 201 for Home Storage Hardware
SS304 and SS201 are both used in metal products, but they are not interchangeable purchasing labels. For home storage hardware, buyers should compare environment, corrosion expectations, forming, finish, cost and the exact material specification required by the project.
Practical differences for buyers
SS304 is generally chosen for better corrosion resistance and is often preferred for products exposed to humidity. SS201 can offer a lower-cost stainless option for suitable applications, but its corrosion performance is typically more limited. Actual performance also depends on surface condition, fabrication, cleaning and exposure—not grade name alone.
Match material to the application
Bathroom and sink-area products need closer attention to moisture, salts and cleaning products. Dry cabinet or household organizers may have different priorities. Buyers should define whether the material applies to the whole product or only selected components, and should not assume that every wire, plate and fastener uses the same grade.
What to put in the RFQ
- Required stainless grade and components covered
- Product environment and expected appearance
- Dimensions, wire or sheet requirements
- Surface finish and visible areas
- Any buyer-defined verification method
Compare other options in the surface finish guide, browse storage hardware categories, or submit the specification through custom manufacturing.
Häufig gestellte Fragen
Is SS304 always required in a bathroom?
No single grade fits every design, but moisture exposure makes corrosion resistance an important decision. Confirm the use conditions and buyer requirements.
Can different stainless grades be mixed in one product?
It may be technically possible, but the component specification, appearance and verification method must be clear to avoid substitution or inconsistent performance.
